DECIPHER THE PROPHECY
POSTED ON Jan 28, 2024 16:47:56 GMT
Alright, I know I've only been on this site since like the end of November and my grasp on the lore is tenuous at best, but hear me out; I think the prophecy is just one large, thinly veiled reference to the song Viva La Vida by Coldplay. I think Kyurem is a big fan of Chris Martin and unbound Hoopa was just being a really good friend and was encouraging his buddy to share his passion for music with the denizens of Hoenn.
See, there's a lot of direct references to the lyrical content of the song; 1 and 4 explicitly reference royalty, a parallel to lines such as Oh, who would ever want to be king? and I used to rule the world. 9 references “the old world”, an obvious reference to my missionaries in a foreign field in which the “foreign field” = whatever the heck “the old world is”. And LET'S NOT FORGET 16!! “Pillars of salt and pillars of sand”!! It's literally ONE TO ONE!
But it goes beyond just the lyrical content! 17 includes the line of “give me liberty, or give me death”, which is OBVIOUSLY a reference to the album art of the standard edition of the album that the song was released on! The art used is Liberty Leading the People, which depicts the personification of liberty leading troops over their fallen comrades.
And finally, there are pretty blatant references to the man, the myth, the legend, lead singer Chris Martin himself. There's no way he COULDN'T be the “diamond” bestowed with a “sweet voice” referenced in 14, the “ultimate weapon” referenced in 19 (in this case, he himself is a weapon of righteous fury when cornered by paparazzi), and “the alpha” mentioned in 20, because duh, how else would you describe the guy that won PETA'S “World's Sexiest Vegetarian” award in 2005? There's even a reference to his former wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, who is likely the “matriarch” mentioned in 2, and “her people” is probably referring to her employees at Goop (“fate's end” in this case probably has something to do with the multiple suits and settlements the company faced in 2017).
So yeah, I think I've got the general gist of the prophecy.
Shiv, if you're reading this, I'm sorry orz Tho uhh for my actual two cents worth, I agree with a lot of other observations people have already made in this thread, other than I feel like 6. might reference Pecharunt rather than Eternatus or Necrozma
